How The Bagel Lady Came To Be…

An open letter to all Upper Valley Bagel Lovers:

One day in February of 2021 I really wanted a bagel, so I made some. They were ugly but delicious! I gave some away to people to see if I was crazy and they agreed they were indeed delicious.

It was one year into the pandemic and like so many other people, I realized I simply could NOT continue with my long-time career, so I started thinking, “Well, it’s hard to find good bagels here so maybe this is my next path.”

I was DYING to “work remotely!” I decided to test the waters by starting an Instagram account and within a week it was clear to me that I needed to make this idea into a reality.

UVjustbagels had its opening day in May of 2021. I was terrified that no one would show up… that fear didn’t last long because the line started forming 2 hours before the start time. And I sold out!

6 months later I made the leap from hairstylist to full-time bagel purveyor! In February of 2022, I renovated my home kitchen to increase production.

People often ask me if I plan on opening a shop… I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know I am pretty damn happy now. For the time being, I will continue to do business by way of farmer’s markets, creative pop-ups, pickup locations, deliveries, special orders, etc.

So while I may not have a brick-and-mortar, I’ve got something better… no constraints! Think of me as your personal bagel baker, all you have to do is ask and I will do my best to accommodate your request in a way that works for both of us.

Sometimes it might actually be MORE convenient than going to a shop… like we both need to go to Home Depot and I meet you in the parking lot. (Yes, this has happened!)

Since the beginning I have invited people on this ride that I have jokingly dubbed my “bagel journey” and it’s truly amazing to me how incredibly supportive our community has been from that very first day on Instagram.

Very quickly I was given the moniker “The Bagel Lady” by… well, pretty much everyone, so it seemed only fitting that UVjustbagels was reborn with that name.

Thanks for being here for it, I’ll do my best to keep bringing you bagel joy in whatever way I can!
